The Building

The building of POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews was designed by Finnish architect Rainer Mahlamäki.

His outstanding, visionary design was selected from over a hundred projects submitted for the international architectural competition.

Designed to convey a variety of meanings, the unique building has been granted numerous awards, including the International Architecture Award of the Chicago Athenaeum (2008), the Architectural Design of the Year (The Eurobuild Awards, 2013) and the SARP Award of the Year for the best architectural facility realised with public funds, granted under the Honorary Patronage of the President of the Republic of Poland (2014).

The project, implemented by Polimex-Mostostal, was co-funded by the Capital City of Warsaw and the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
