The team involved in the day-to-day implementation of the Museum’s programs and projects consists of over 190 staff, including specialists in various fields such as history, education, marketing and internet technologies. The team is overseen by a board of directors.

Zygmunt Stępiński graduated from the Department of History at the University of Warsaw. He has been engaged in social activities of Jewish organizations in Poland and abroad for years. In the 1980s he was active in the democratic opposition. He was a publisher and journalist, co-founder of the MURATOR Publishing Company and long-term chairman of its board, co-author of communal programs: "Affordable home” and “Home with no barriers."
In the years 2012-2019, as Deputy Director of POLIN Museum, Mr Stępiński supervised the operation of the departments of education, communications, as well as sales and marketing. He has a fair share in the Museum’s record-breaking attendance and in the remarkable success of its program.
Since February 2019 Mr Stępiński was Acting Director of POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews. He was nominated as the Museum Director on 1 March 2020.

Deputy Director for Organization
Graduate of Management and Marketing Faculty at the Academy of Podlasie, with specialisation in capital management, Patrycja completed postgraduate studies in financial accounting and taxes at the University of Warsaw. She has worked for the past fourteen years for public finance sector units where she was responsible for the preparation and implementation of financial policy, raising and settling external funds, including funds from the European Union and other international grants. She boasts substantial experience in managing large teams.

Deputy Director for Programming
Graduate in art history at the Jagiellonian University, Ms Gumula began her museum career in 2000 as an intern at the Museum of London and V&A Museum. Having returned to Poland, she worked at the National Museum in Krakow as a head of Education Department. She created and later headed the Centre for Museum Education at the Royal Łazienki in Warsaw; subsequently she was appointed Deputy Director for Museum Affairs there.
She was one of the curators of the permanent exhibition at Pan Tadeusz Museum in Wrocław. Ms Gumula co-founded the Educators Forum and was one of the coordinators of studies on museum education in Poland, conducted under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. She is also author of art textbook for middle high schools.
At POLIN, Ms Gumula supervises the following departments: Research, Public Program, Exhibitions, Digital Collections, Collections as well as the Museum Practices Lab and the Chief Curator of Collections.

Member of the POLIN Museum staff since 2009. From 2020, as the Director’s plenipotentiary, Łucja was responsible for, among others, developing and implementing the Museum’s strategy for the years 2021-2025 and for the Education and Sales Division. Since 2018, she managed the Jewish Cultural Heritage project supported by the EEA-Norway Grants, which funds a large part of POLIN’s programs. In years 2013-2017 she headed the 1st edition of this project, which won the 2017 Europa Nostra/European Heritage Award. In the years 2013-2022, she acted as Head of the Education Department, and since 2023—Head of the Strategic Programs Department.
Łucja Koch holds a degree in sociology from the University of Warsaw and postgraduate diploma in cultural management from the Warsaw School of Economics. She was a member of the board of the Association of European Jewish Museums in years 2013-2020. She serves as an expert in educational projects carried out by the OSCE/ODHIR, UNESCO and the Council of Europe. Member of Poland’s delegation to International Holocaust Remembrance Aliance.

The Research Department develops and coordinates scholarly and research projects. It voices opinions on the Museum exhibitions. It organizes academic meetings and conferences, and runs a publishing section as well as the Museum library. The Department also deals with expanding and sharing the Museum’s book collection.

The Digital Collections and Resource Center Department collects, develops and shares digital data related to the history of Polish Jews, mainly through producing historiographic texts, building a collection of visual documentation of the material heritage of Polish Jews, and an oral history collection. Some items from the digital collection are available on the two portals: www.sztetl.org.pl/en and www.sprawiedliwi.org.pl/en. The portals are visited by ca 1 million users each year. The Department also runs the Resource Center located on the ground floor of the Museum building; we offer genealogical and historical consultations, and provide access to numerous databases, the library and the unique collection of the USC Shoah Foundation

The Collection Department deals with preservation of the heritage of Polish Jews as well as management of the POLIN Museum collection. The Department's employees - together with the Collection Chief Curator - acquire, study and develop Museum and archival collections, in line with the development strategy that has been agreed upon. Their tasks include producing records, conservation, digitization, sharing and loans of the collection, as well as formal and conservatorial management of temporary exhibitions. The Collection Department is also reponsible for the activities of the Acquisition Commission, for developing a collection inventory, proper storage, transport and preservation of the collection, in order to make sure it continues to serve the future generations. The Department employees coordinate works relating to presenting objects from the collection on the Central Judaica Database, an online portal which boasts the Jewish cultural heritage items from the collections of POLIN Museum and its partner institutions.

The Sales and Customer Service Department manages the system of reservations and sale of tickets. It is responsible for manning the ticket desk, cloakroom and visitor information points, as well as the Museum infoline. The Projects and Management Control Department's task is to implement a system of project management at the Museum of the History of Polish Jews. It is here that all the projects realised at the Museum are being monitored. The Department is responsible for training employees in project implementation and for supporting the Project Managers.
It monitors the implementation of the Museum's strategy and its updating. It also recommends new projects to the Museum management. In the future, it is to engage in the analysis of the projects' wallet and managing the bank of ideas.

The Security Department ensures that all the people who enter the Museum building are safe. Lab
The Museum Practices Lab is engaged in developing cooperation between the Museum of the History of Polish Jews and contemporary artists. It also implements long-term, interdisciplinary initiatives which combine contemporary art, research and education, with special emphasis on participatory practices. It introduces experimental work methods, and follows trends developed by other institutions of culture and museums both in Poland and abroad.
