"Polish Jews after the death of Piłsudski. What now? "
Historical panel discussion: Polish Jews after the death of Piłsudski. What now?
The discussion will focus on various aspects of Polish government and diplomatic policy with regard to Jews following the death of Józef Piłsudski in 1935, and will examine the reaction and attitudes of Jewish organizations to this event. The difficult condition of Jews after 1935 was one of the main issues to be discussed in Zionist circles. At the same time anti-Semitic attitudes were on the rise in Poland, while the government sought ways to accelerate Jewish emigration to Israel. This topic is an important theme in the diplomatic and political history of the Second Republic.
