We invite everyone to a screening of short films created by students of the last year's PIYE program (Polish Intercultural Youth Encounters).

The films were created by Polish and Israeli students, who in summer 2012 took part in workshops led by filmmakers and other experts of the field. The results of their work were four films about memory, history and contemporary life of the Jewish community in Poland and the story of Janusz Korczak.

The Program:

  • Pustka/Vacuum
  • Miejsce/A Place
  • Would you
  • 12 godzin/12 Hours

Screening time: 35 min

After the show, there will be a discussion with last year’s participants of the PIYE program. The topic of the discussion will be: "The Israeli-Polish point of view: PIYE participants, what do they see?"

Admission free.

The premiere screenings took place on September 11th, 2012 in Cinema Kultura in Warsaw. Also, the films were shown in Israel.

The exchange program (PIYE - Polish Intercultural Youth Encounters) organized by the Museum of the History of Polish Jews, is directed towards Israeli and Polish students. By joint work, taking part in workshops and visiting Warsaw and other Polish cities, participants get a chance to learn the multithreaded Polish-Jewish history and about contemporary culture of Poland and Israel.

Thereafter, Polish participants of PIYE will go to Israel, where they will participate in courses at the University of Tel Aviv. New friendships and knowledge gained during PIYE are a great basis for the verification of stereotypes and for a new perspective on Polish-Jewish relations.

The project is a joint initiative of the Museum of the History of Polish Jews and the Jewish Historical Institute in Poland, also responsible for the creation of the main exhibition.

The project is supported by:
