Wideo: The Holocaust History and the Future of Europe – a lecture
In his recent essay titled On Tyranny. Twenty Lessons from the Twentieth Century, Prof. Timothy Snyder suggests twenty commandments rooted in the experiences of the past. During his lecture at POLIN Museum, he will present the lessons which can be drawn from the Holocaust.
The age of commemorating the Holocaust is also the moment of the return of the far right to the political mainstream. This is a good time, then, to query both our culture of commemoration and the myths promoted by nationalism. This lecture proposes a new viewpoint on the 1930s and draws conclusions for the future of Europe.
The lecture will be delivered in Polish.
The lecture is organized within the Global Education Outreach Program.
The lecture was made possible thanks to the support of the Taube Foundation for Jewish Life & Culture, the William K. Bowes, Jr. Foundation, and the Association of the Jewish Historical Institute of Poland.
