Workshops at King Matt's Family Education Area

Come and enjoy a variety of family workshops that will take place in this interesting space. We will show how Hanukkah is celebrated, and we will open the King Matt’s Family Workshop, the monthly meetings of which will be devoted to important topics on raising children. You can also find out about the important character of King Matt. These and many other educational activities will take place every day at King Matt’s Family Education Area.

  • 9.12 (Wednesday) 17:00 Inauguration of King Matt’s Family Workshop – based on the book ‘A Book Full of Love’ by Alona Frankel (10 PLN per person – classes with a psychologist for parents and workshops for children) 
    King Matt’s Family Workshop is a series of monthly meetings for parents and children about important topics and issues in developmental psychology and culture for children. Classes are conducted in parallel by a psychologist for parents and an animator for children in the King Matt’s Family Education Area. The classes will be devoted to ‘A Book Full of Love’ published recently by the Nisza publishing house.
  • 12.12 (Saturday) 11:00 Workshop – Construction: The City (15 PLN children, 10 PLN adults)
    Together with children, we will recreate the world of pre-war Warsaw, using for this purpose models of apartment buildings. We will build our own parts of the city, and then play out roles so that the world of the last century can come to life in the Family Education Area.
  • 13.12 (Sunday) 11:00 Workshop – Holidays: Around Hanukkah (15 PLN children, 10 PLN adults)
    How is Hanukkah celebrated? What customs are related to it? What games do Jewish children play during this holiday? The workshops will be artistic and interactive and there will even be some cooking!
  • 19.12 (Saturday) 11:00 Workshop – Listening Theatre: ‘Meet King Matt’ (15 PLN children, 10 PLN adults)
    King Matt the First is an important figure in children's literature created by Janusz Korczak. The events of his life show the role that orders and prohibitions play in our lives, what power and responsibility are, and the importance of understanding children and adults. King Matt is also an important figure for the Family Education Area – he is not only a literary figure, but someone who can be your friend. We have named this place after him. At the workshop we will create a story and produce sounds. We will create together an extraordinary production, whose main character is King Matt!
  • 20.12 (Sunday) 11:00 Workshop – Holidays: Around Hanukkah (15 PLN children, 10 PLN adults)

  • 27.12 (Saturday) 11:00 and 28.12 (Sunday) 11:00 Workshop – Sewing: Sewing a Cover for the Challah (15 PLN children, 10 PLN adults)
    On each Jewish table during the Sabbath there must be two challahs covered by a beautiful napkin. During this workshop you will be able to your own challah cover. It will be creative, so come along!
  • 30.12 (Wednesday) 11:00 Workshop – Calendar: Different calendars (15 PLN children, 10 PLN adults)
    The New Year is approaching! But not for everyone, because Jews celebrate the beginning of the New Year in September. Where do these differences come from? How is the beginning of a new year celebrated in different cultures? You can learn about this during interactive, educational workshops.
  • 3.01 (Sun) 11:00 Workshop – Language: "ABC, alef bet, aleph beis ..." (15 PLN children, 10 PLN adults)
    Did you know that many of the words we use every day come from Yiddish? What does the Hebrew alphabet look like? Getting to know a new language can be great fun if songs, videos and stamps are used as part of the learning process.
  • 4.01 (Monday) 11:00 Workshop – Calendar: Different Calendars (15 PLN children, 10 PLN adults)

On the occasion of the Grand Opening, you can come and have fun for free at King Matt’s Family Education Area for the whole month (only special workshops are paid). Reservations are required for all events.

From January 2nd, fun at King Matt’s Family Education Area is paid:

  • Weekdays (15:00-18:00) one hour of fun – 5 PLN per person
  • Weekend (10:00-18:00) one hour of fun – 10 PLN/child and 5 PLN/adult
