"Shoshana", dir. Michael Winterbottom, Italy, Great Britain 2023, 119’ – POLISH PREMIERE
This historical feature follows two British police officers, Thomas Wilkin (Douglas Booth from "Jupiter Ascending" and "Loving Vincent") and Geoffrey Morton (Harry Melling from the "Harry Potter" films and "The Queen’s Gambit"), in their pursuit of the poet, Irgun leader and Lehi founder, Avraham Stern (Aury Alby), to try and stop the murderous attacks against the British. Wilkin is torn between his duty as a British police officer and his love for Shoshana Borochov, an ardent supporter of an socialist Jewish state and the daughter of leading Marxist Zionist. As the violence builds, everyone is forced to choose which side they will fight on.
Based on historical facts, "Shoshana" makes for great entertainment, but it is also an insightful portrait of the legacy of British colonialism and where today's conflicts began.
