Warsaw Urban Game, August 30, at. 04.00 PM

Starting point is the monument of Adam Mickiewicz on Krakowskie Przemieście st.

As a part of this year's Polish Intercultural Youth Encounters (PIYE), we’ve prepared an urban game devoted to various faces of contemporary Israel that are rooted in the urban space of Warsaw.

Through carrying out the tasks, participants will learn a lot of interesting new things about Israel. For example: What is Shakshuka, who invented the cherry tomatoes and which writers are popular in Israel. The game is designed for all of those who want to have good fun.

The tasks are not everything. With the help of "historical cards" distributed at the different points, participants will learn a lot about the different aspects of life in contemporary Israel. Example topics of cards:

  1. Isreali cinema
  2. Israeli cuisine
  3. Contemporary Hebrew Literature
  4. Palm tree and Israeli landscapes
  5. Agriculture in Israel
  6. Israelis in Warsaw
  7. Tel Aviv - the city that never sleeps

The project is a joint initiative of the Museum of the History of Polish Jews and the Jewish Historical Institute in Poland.

Program PIYE (Polish Intercultural Youth Encounters)
Students paired in Polish-Israeli couples are involved in projects in the various departments of the museum, in which they take part in workshops and visit Warsaw and other Polish cities. In addition, participants have a chance to get to know the multithreaded Polish-Jewish history and the contemporary culture of Poland and Israel. The program is based on intercultural creative action, overcoming prejudices and creating the foundations for a new perspective on Polish-Jewish relations. The first part of the program takes place in Poland, the other in Israel.

The project is a joint initiative of the Museum of the History of Polish Jews and the Jewish Historical Institute in Poland.
