TISH Festival: Family Cooking: Getting Acquainted with the Jewish Cuisine: Mirabelle Plum Tree
Once upon a time, in the Northern District of Warsaw (today Muranów covers majority of its area), residents of tenement houses kept warmth in glass jars. They made preserves using summer fruits so that they could enjoy them also in wintertime.

Various trees used to grow in-between the houses, also the one with small golden yellow plums that are sweet and smell like heaven: a Mirabelle plum tree. We will get acquainted with the story of this unique tree from Nalewki Street, and will learn how to find it. We will also find out how to preserve the fruits’ sweetness for later so that we can enjoy them at any time of the year.
Information on what type of fruit we are going to place in jars will be provided in an email sent as a confirmation of participation.
