The second edition of the TISH* Jewish Food Festival will take place in Warsaw on 16-20 October during the joyous Jewish holiday of Sukkot. The main theme of this year’s edition of the Festival organized by POLIN Museum is HOME.

What does the word ‘home’ mean to you? Is it your birthplace, or the country you have chosen to settle in, or perhaps a multi-storey block of apartments you grew up in? Or perhaps it is a place where you feel the safest? Despite its multiple connotations, home for all of us signifies a sense of community, warmth, emotions and relations with the surrounding world. The term “home cuisine” conjures up the tastes of a childhood, the simplicity and honesty served on a plate.

That is precisely why during the TISH Festival second edition we intend to—aside from the tastefully served story of the Jewish inhabitants of Poland—search together for the tastes of home.

During the holiday of Sukkot on 16-20 October we will meet for walks, workshops and film screenings. We will also meet at the table in order to cook together, talk and—first and foremost—taste the Jewish foods. We will invite you to a special Shabbat brunch, to the baking of challah at POLIN Museum, to meetings devoted to culinary books and ceramic workshops. We will share family food stories, we will set the tables across Muranów and tour Warsaw along the culinary trail.

The full Festival program will be available from 9 September at www.polin.pl/tiszfestiwal
