Gender in Jewish Studies: Re-Evaluations of Jewish Everyday History and Culture in Central and Eastern Europe
The workshop "Gender in Jewish Studies: Re-Evaluations of Jewish Everyday History and Culture in Central and Eastern Europe" gathered scholars specializing in Jewish and non-Jewish history of Europe, to generate discussion on the place of Jewish studies in the gendered history of the region and situate Jewish Studies in a broader academic landscape transformed by the gender turn.
Organizers:
- Center for Jewish Studies, University of Graz
- POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews
During the workshop, we discussed about encounters between Jewish and non-Jewish men and women; perspectives on queerness, masculinity and femininity; aspects of distinct gendered Jewish history.
