President of Finland visiting the Museum
On 3 June Mr. Sauli Niinistö, the President of Finland, who paid a visit to Poland, met Prof. Dariusz Stola, the Director of the Museum, and Mr. Piotr Wiślicki, the Chairman of the Jewish Historical Institute Association. The President learnt about the history of the Museum, its mission and extensive programme. A lot of attention was devoted to the unusual architecture of the Museum building, designed by Lahdelma & Mahlamäki Architects from Finland.
The key architect, Mr. Rainer Mahlamäki, told President Niinistö about his inspirations and solutions applied in the design and construction of the Museum. The President also visited the Core Exhibition, its installation still in progress, guided by Prof. Barbara Kirshenblatt-Gimblett, the Program Director of the Exhibition.
