Dr Jan Kulczyk, a distinguished donor and friend of POLIN Museum has passed away

Dr Jan Kulczyk died on 29 July at the age of 65. He was one of the most outstanding and influential Polish entrepreneurs in Central and Eastern Europe and a generous philanthropist and patron supporting numerous cultural institutions.
In 2012, he donated 20 m zlotys for building the Core Exhibition of POLIN Museum. It was the largest one-time donation for the Museum which enabled implementing the project of the exhibition’s creation. The Auditorium at POLIN Museum bears his name.
Dr Jan Kulczyk was a man exceptionally distinguished for Polish culture. He was a laureate of numerous prestigious awards, including the “Patron of Culture 2012” granted by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage for, among others, support of the POLIN Museum project. In June 2015, he was decorated by the President of the Republic of Poland with the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Rebirth of Poland for the outstanding services in supporting and promoting of the Polish culture and national heritage.
He will be remembered with deep respect and gratitude.
