Mateusz Śmigasiewicz
Composer, sound artist, musician, Mateusz graduated in composition from the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw under the tutorship of Prof. Zygmunt Krauze. He participated in a number of courses taught by many composers, among them Simon Steen-Andersen, Phillipp Manoury, Johannes Kreidler, Marek Andre, Stefan Prins and Ondřej Adámek.
Mateusz Śmigasiewicz is active in various fields—he composes chamber and electro-acoustic music, electronica, computer music as well as music for theater and film. He participated in many projects, both in Poland and abroad, organized i.a. by CSW Ujazdowski Castle, DISK (Berlin), Krzysztof Penderecki Music Center in Lusławice, or the Jewish Historical Institute. His pieces are performed in Poland (e.g. as part of the Musica Privata festival in Łódź and the Warsaw Autumn International Festival of Contemporary Music) and abroad (e.g. Ukraine, Italy, Indonesia and Hungary).
Mateusz is keen on de-tuning the existing sound combinations, compressing textures, outstretching time and space—also by way of composing in a close cooperation with the musicians
