Richly illustrated with Mayer Kirshenblatt's paintings and historical photographs of Opatów, the volume is a collection of essays penned by acclaimed experts examining Mayer's art and the shtetl of Opatów from the perspective of history, art history, architecture, anthropology, and local memory. Edited by Justyna Koszarska-Szulc, Natalia Romik, and Barbara Kirshenblatt-Gimblett. Among the contributors to the volume are Roma Sendyka, Antony Polonsky, Maria Borzęcka, and Jeffrey Shandler.
