Join us on September 29 at the Museum of the History of Polish Jews for a celebration of Simchat Torah!

Program:

4.00 PM – open dance workshops with elements of traditional Jewish dance led by Michał Piróg – a famous polish choreographer and TV presenter, Katarzyna Kizior, Kaya Kołodziejczyk, Anna Sąsiadek and Bartkiem Figurskim. Music by the very known duet SzaZa (Szamburski/Zakrocki).

In Jewish culture, dance is intrinsically linked to celebration – dancing adds splendor to religious festivities and accompanies the most important events in the life of the family and the community.

5.00 PM – Nili Amit from the Museum’s Education Department will give a short lecture about the role of dance in Jewish culture, dance in contemporary Israel, and the holiday of Simchat Torah.

After her talk, you are invited to an open screening of "Let's Dance!" (Israel 2011, 52 min), a documentary directed by Gabriel Bibliowicz.

“Let's Dance!” is a documentary film about the incredible success of Israeli modern dance. It shows how Israel has become a recognized world leader in modern dance and has made a lasting contribution to its historical development. Featuring fantastic video-dance performances, a rich store of archival material, interviews and visual demonstrations, the film traces the events that have made modern dance one of Israel’s most important cultural achievements. Screenplay by Efrat Amit; music by Uri Brauner Kinrot.

Free admission.
