From chronicles to post-traumatic films: Holocaust documentaries – meeting forming part of the POLIN Reading Room series
What is the role of film in the Polish collective memory of the Holocaust? What is the significance of the techniques used in films of this kind – from the inclusion of archival materials to documentaries portraying the stories of return?

Together with Dr Tomasz Łysak, author of the first monograph dedicated to Holocaust documentaries – we shall attempt to find answers to these questions.
Professor Joanna Tokarska-Bakir, anthropologist, Institute of Slavic Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences, and Dr Adam Mazur, art critic, University of Arts in Poznań, will also be present during the meeting. The discussion will be conducted by Dr Małgorzata Pakier (POLIN Museum).
