POLIN Music Festival: Martha Argerich

Martha Argerich is an icon of classical music of our times. Since her triumph at the International Chopin Piano Competition in 1965, she has been collaborating with the best orchestras and artists in Europe, Asia and both Americas.
Martha is also very keen on chamber music; she has been repeatedly awarded the most prestigious prizes, including Officier de l’Ordre des Arts et Lettres from the French government, Commandeur de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres or the Medal of the Rising Sun from the Emperor of Japan.
In December 2016, Martha Argerich was awarded the Kennedy Center Honors by the US President Barack Obama. At POLIN Museum, she will be accompanied by her friends: Michael Guttman (violin), Jing Zhao (cello), Akane Sakai (piano), as well as her own daughter Annie Catherine Dutoit who will deliver the opening address. The program includes pieces by Ernest Bloch, Frederick Chopin, Szymon Laks, Witold Lutosławski, Dymitr Szostakowicz and Karol Szymanowski.
