"Aktion Reinhardt": Research in the 21st century
We invite you to listen to the lecture by Prof. Dieter Pohl, opening the international conference: Operation "Reinhardt" and the Destruction of Polish Jews, held in November 2022 at the POLIN Museum.
Prof. Dieter Pohl of the Alpen-Adria Universität Klagenfurt is an eminent scholar of history of the Nazi crimes. He will discuss the development in world historiography on the Reinhardt Aktion over the course of the past twenty years. The point of departure for his talk will be a conference which summed up the state of research on the Genocide of Jews in the General Government that took place in 2002. Since, historians have gained access to many more primary sources and new research paradigms have been developed. Prof. Pohl will point to the new findings and to the areas that still need to be researched, and to new scholarly perspectives.
Prof. Dieter Pohl is Professor for Contemporary History at the Klagenfurt University, Austria. He also served as speaker of the advisory board of the Vienna Simon Wiesenthal Institute, as a member of the Executive Board of the European Holocaust Research Infrastructure (2009-2019) and currently as a speaker of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Volksbund deutscher Kriegsgräberfürsorge (German War Graves Commission). His expertise is focussed on the European and Global History of the 1930s to the 1950s, especially Nazi period, German occupation and Nazi crimes, East German postwar history, Soviet Union, Ukraine, and Poland during twentieth century.
