POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews wins an EU Prize for Cultural Heritage / Europa Nostra Awards 2017 for ‘Jewish Cultural Heritage: Educational program’.
The European Commission and Europa Nostra revealed today the winners of the 2017 European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage / Europa Nostra Awards, Europe’s top honour in the heritage field. For the first time in award’s history, one of the Europa Nostra Awards in the ‘Education, training and awareness raising’ category is presented to a Polish institution – POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews in Warsaw – for realisation of the Jewish Cultural Heritage: Educational programme.
The museum, in aiming to educate and conserve the memory of Jewish people (…) has established a safe place for intercultural dialogue said the award jury.
The 29 laureates from 18 countries are being recognised for their notable achievements in conservation, research, dedicated service, and education, training and awareness-raising.
Independent expert juries examined a total of 202 applications, submitted by organisations and individuals from 39 countries across Europe, and chose the laureates.
